Ohhh Goodness!!

T- 15ish hours until I leave for camp! I am beyond unprepared!! Am I packed? Nope. I'm excited, but I'm also extremely nervous! If you don't know me very well, you probably don't know how nervous I get in the face of uncertainty! I don't handle these situations well.
Anyway. Please send me letters! I'll write you back for sure!!

If anyone wants to send some prayers up to JC, that would also be greatly appreciated! I'm excited to see what all God has in store for me this summer! I'm really excited to share my faith and more so to grow in my faith! It's going to be great! I just have to get past the initial nerves I have!
I intend to blog as much as possible! So look for some stories, because we know I'll attract some of those!
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
Peace and Love!

Stop it. Stop it right now!!

Can I just voice how inappropriate it is to take boyfriends, significant others, probably even husbands into Victoria's Secret. Really. That whole thing needs to stop now!
Now, I just don't understand the appeal behind this. Why do you need your boyfriend to stand awkwardly while you shop for bras and underwear?? Is it to show off that you actually wear the stuff? Are you getting his opinion? Are you trying to raise your appeal? All this is ridiculous, and it just doesn't need to happen.
Today I had to make my way through several middle, high, and college-aged boys while shopping for some new underwear. I was in a room by myself, or so I thought and turned around to a pre-pubescent teenage boy posted up on the wall. Seriously? Not to mention the strange family of mother, father, and teenage son. Surely, the father and son could have found something better to do while mom shopped!
Girls. Leave your boy outside, or better yet, leave your undergarment shopping for another day!
Boys. Just say no. If it isn't for your own awkward sake, do it for me, because I can't stand running into you while I'm shopping!

Abandon Tent!!!

Here's a sign of some great things to come...
So yesterday we celebrated Emily's graduation from high school early since we won't be here when she actually graduates. I'll be in the mountains, Anna will be in Florida. So. We thought to ourselves, "What does Emily enjoy?" The consensus: The Melting Pot and camping. We all love a good trip to The Melting Pot, and well, Emily is really the only one of the three of us who enjoys camping, but this was for her, not us. So she came over and we headed to dinner...
We were all still happy and pretty at this point.

When we came back from dinner, we decided the weather was permitting, so we headed up to the lake to camp for the night. I figured it was only appropriate to put on a bandana and make this as legit as possible. By the time we got to the lake, it was dark. So we commenced the tent set up in the dark. Emily, being the only one of us who knew anything about camping had no choice but to take charge. I tried to be useful, but it didn't really work...

... two hours later we FINALLY had a set up tent!!!!

We got everything set up inside and hunkered down for the night! About 20 minutes into this, I heard something outside. Let's be real, tents aren't really going to protect you from anything. So I brought this up to Anna and Emily. They shot me down, however about 5 minutes later we all sat up simultaneously. Emily suggested we abandon the tent. We all agreed. So we spent maybe 30 minutes in the tent that took us 2 hours to set up.

This morning, we had to go back up to the lake to take down the tent. It was wet. There were all kinds of bugs all over the place. Sick. I just wasn't feeling the outdoors! At all.

So is it safe to say this summer could prove to be much more interesting than originally thought? Yes.
Peace and Love.

Dinner and One step closer to being ready for camp!

So tonight I cooked dinner! I was on stumbleupon last night and came across some recipes I wanted to try... so. Here's what I made:
Spicy Honey Chicken Seriously delicious!!
Garlic-Rosemary Potatoes Again, SO good!
Asparagus... I don't have a link to this recipe haha
and then for dessert! I made a pie compliments of Paula Dean! It was soooo good!!
So I would strongly encourage anyone to try these recipes! It greatly made up for the slick cake I made the other day, that's for sure!!

Then. The highlight of my day!! As previously mentioned, I have purchased chacos. However, I've been looking to get them monogramed for awhile now... Today Aunt Ann was able to get them on her machine and make my chacos pretty!! No more mandals for this girl!
Now this picture is a weird angle, I don't think it's too flattering of my leg/ankle. Oh well.
Precious, right? Yes. Anyone who wants theirs monogramed as well can consult Aunt Ann!

That's it for tonight!
Peace and Love!

It's never going to happen!

I think I'm going to have to accept the fact that my hair will not curl. After several tried attempts and several failed attempts I have learned that my hair never has and never will be able to be scrunched. This dream of mine to have naturally curly hair like Anna's has been quite the saga...
When I was in 5th grade, I put so much gel in my hair in attempt to gain curls that you could hear me/my hair coming before you saw me. My mom, being ever so kind, told me I wasn't allowed to wear my hair like that to church because it made too much noise.

Years later my hair lady told me anyone could have curly hair if they used the right products! She sold me several creams, gels, sprays, etc all of which she guaranteed would give me the ringlet curls Anna has. So. I woke up the morning I was to get my passport picture taken and decided that day was the day to put all these products to test! Bad idea? Yes. My passport picture, which stays with you for years, is now a great reminder to me that my hair should just be kept straight. This has stayed with me as a reminder, until today...

I've been SO bored this week! So today, I decided to use all of Anna's curling products: shampoo, conditioner, gel, and spray. This was a sure way to get curl! (I'm doing all this in preparation for camp, so I can get ready faster) So I got ready to dry my hair and decided to throw some root lifter in there because my hair was always pretty flat on top when I curled it. Worst mistake I could probably make in all this! Once I turned off my hairdryer, my phone rang. It was 1985. They asked for their hair back.
I have now learned that without some chemical intervention, my hair will always be straight. Sad. But true. I'll have to find other ways to cut back on my getting ready time this summer.

Peace and Love.

And the winner is...

Miss Michigan is the new Miss USA!!
What in the world?!?!?! I don't know how this happened!! Her on stage question answer was all over the place on the topic of birth control being covered by insurance. Hmmm. My top choice was Colorado, MAYBE Virginia. I'm sorry, but this victory from the Great Lakes came as a total shock!
Being in the pageant spirit, I couldn't help but head upstairs to put on an old dress! I just love it so much!! I had to take it off, though because I was being deprived of oxygen. I guess I have put on more weight this year than I thought! Possible career option: pageant judging. Just kidding. But definitely a side hobby!
Peace and Love... and I guess congratulations to Miss Michigan, even though it should have been Colorado.

Well Hello!

Welcome to the new blog! I'm so excited to have finally started this! I've been missing the ability to share my exciting life since I ended the last blog!
So what's been going on since I've written last?
I have started gathering things for camp! I purchased chacos, aka man-dals. I got a waterproof watch, some sweet shorts that are so bright I will never get lost in the wild, and I got a very camp counselor-ish bracelet! It has been so sad going into places like J. Crew knowing I have no reason to buy those clothes right now since I will be wearing nothing but shorts and t-shirts all summer. Oh well. BUT I've decided to make this a somewhat religious moment. 1 Samuel says: “...Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
Now. I'm Lutheran, and we Lutherans don't really do the whole "life verse" thing or anything similar. However, I personally have decided to adopt this little verse here for the summer. Im going to try my hardest to cut back on the shower time, not worry about having my hair perfectly done only to hike up a mountain, etc. Hygiene, though will always be a priority.

So. Aside from camp. I decided today to make a cake. Not just any cake... a lime cake. Yes, from the get go, not so much a quality sounding idea. The true red flag in all of this, though, should have gone up when I went to add oil to the cake and had to do a double take as to what the recipe called for. One AND a third cup!!!! What in the world!? So. Needless to say, the cake can be described with one word, and that word is slick. It wont be going dry for a very long time if anyone wants some! What a waste of ingredients(mainly a waste of oil, I'd say)!
Also, after much harassment, asking, begging, etc.. my mother finally got me to clean out my drawers(ps. that's one tough word to spell..)! Anyway. Going by the things that were discovered, the last time I cleaned them out was probably sophomore year of high school! I gave away six trash bags of clothes! I can now live out of my drawers instead of the laundry baskets in my room! How great!
Ok, I think that's all for now!
Happy Founders Day to ADPi!!!
Peace and Love!
